NXP acquires Weichuang factory for 278 million yuan

    Last September, contract manufacturer Wistron (3231-TW) announced that it would dispose of its real estate, including factories and land, in the Selangor and Shuangxiwei Free Trade Zone in Malaysia for RM185 million (approximately NTD 1.214 billion, RMB 278 million) and sell it to semiconductor manufacturer NXPI-US. Wistron further pointed out today (19th) that the disposal benefits are approximately RM 37 million (approximately NT $243 million).
    eichuang announced in September last year that it would sell its consumer electronics production lines located in the Selangor and Shuangxiwei Free Trade Zone in Malaysia. In November last year, it announced that it would sell them to NXP for NT $1.214 billion. Further announcement will be made today, with a disposal benefit of approximately NT $243 million.
    Weichuang has sold several factories in recent years, including the 2020 iPhone Kunshan factory sold to Lixun, and last October, it sold its Indian factory to Tata Electronics, a subsidiary of Tata Group, for 3.89 billion yuan, exiting the iPhone manufacturing industry.
