Cirrus Logic helps professional audio product manufacturers easily integrate and customize their products, making the audio experience unaffected by converters
Based on its history and achievements in the audio field, Cirrus Logic (NASDAQ stock code: CRUS) today announced the launch of a series of new professional audio products, providing manufacturers with transparent audio converters, allowing designers to customize their products. The recently redesigned Cirrus Logic Pro Auido professional audio converter series now includes high-performance, low-power analog-to-digital converters (ADC), and digital to analog converters (DAC) and Audio codec will be introduced later this year. Cirrus Logic‘s professional audio devices use processes optimized for analog performance and digital density, providing top-notch performance and industry-leading low-power consumption, as well as system level enhancements such as hybrid gain control, to address common audio issues in the industry.
Eddie Sinnott, Director of Codecs and Standard Products at Cirrus Logic, stated: The Cirrus Logic team is passionate about audio, and our newly built Pro Audio series provides the most realistic audio reproduction from instruments to ears. This is what we mean by true transparency. Cirrus Logic‘s new high-performance Pro Audio series will enable customers to easily design excellent personalized products to stand out in the market, while ensuring they receive our top engineering and customer support
Cirrus Logic CS5302/04/08P analog-to-digital converter
The first batch of products launched were three analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) in the same series, aimed at providing transparent audio conversion within easy to use and integrated devices. Cirrus Logic CS5302P stereo ADC, CS5304P 4-channel ADC, and CS5308P 8-channel ADC can be used for digital mixers, USB audio interfaces, home audio and audiovisual receivers, synthesizers, DJ mixers, amplifiers, and other instruments, as well as video recording and automotive applications. The combination of a simple control scheme with a single power rail and flexible clock configuration makes these devices easy to integrate in all of these application markets.
Allen&Heath is a leading designer and manufacturer of live audio, installation, DJ, and digital mixing systems for broadcasting and recording. Robin Clark, General Manager of Allen&Heath, stated: We are looking forward to Cirrus Logic‘s new professional audio device series. Its performance remains outstanding, and Cirrus Logic continues to provide designers with differentiated solutions. In past generations of products, Cirrus Logic‘s low latency has been highly praised, which is crucial for live stage mixing. Now, we see low power consumption and new hybrid gain control as key features that can enhance our own products in the future
Hybrid gain control solves the complexity of front-end gain
Compared to existing solutions, Cirrus Logic‘s hybrid gain control redefines the front-end gain design of the microphone, reducing noise and simplifying customer system design. By placing the analog and digital gain states on the same chip, the gain distribution between the two is matched. This feature allows customers to retain their existing microphone preamplifier design as a differentiation factor for the product while reducing overall system complexity. Hybrid gain control is applicable to all customers who implement microphone pre gain control, such as USB audio interface of digital Mixing console and digital audio workstation, as well as other applications.
High performance under low power budget
Whether in the studio or at home, the redesigned Pro Audio series can provide excellent performance within a power budget of 25mW/ch. The device launched today is a 32-bit resolution ADC that supports differential analog inputs with a sampling rate of up to 768 kHz. These ADCs use a fifth order multi bit sigma delta modulator, which is then digitally filtered and extracted to provide a dynamic range of 126dB for CS5302P and 123dB for CS5304/8P. The THD+N of all products is below -110 dB.
Supply
We can now order CS5302/04/08P ADC samples. These converters can be controlled and configured using Cirrus Logic‘s SoundClear â Studio software, which is available from www.cirrus.com. The samples of DAC and codec will be available for ordering starting from December 2023.
