According to the DigiTimes, industry sources said that Huawei has significantly increased its orders for parts of collapsible smartphones, and the related shipments are expected to more than double the previous estimates.
According to supply chain sources familiar with the project, Huawei has revised its shipping target for the Mate X3 from the previously set 1.47 million units to over 3 million units.
Sources pointed out that Huawei‘s newly launched foldable Mate X3 model has been well received since its launch in March. The Mate X3 weighs only 239g and has a unfolded thickness of 5.3mm.
According to sources, Huawei has not yet provided an estimated shipment volume for the foldable models that will be launched in the second half of the year. However, due to the relatively affordable price compared to the flagship folding model, it is expected that the shipping target may increase exponentially. According to sources, with the addition of the Mate X3, Huawei will inevitably increase its total component orders for foldable smartphones.
According to DIGITIMES Research, global shipments of foldable smartphones may increase from 18.3 million in 2022 to 29.1 million in 2023 and 45.2 million in 2024.
