    On April 18, 2024, the leading international distributor of semiconductor components in the Asia Pacific market, DDA Holdings, announced that its subsidiary Transylvania has launched 240W PD3.1 fast charging solutions based on Richtek‘s RT7333, RT7795, RT7220E and RT7209 chips.

    With the release of PD3.1 fast charging protocol, USB charging technology ushered in a major breakthrough. The protocol increases the output voltage of the power supply to 48V and the charging power synchronization to 240W. In this context, traditional flyback schemes and protocol chips suitable for 20V output can no longer meet the current market demand. Device manufacturers need to update their hardware designs to support higher voltage and power levels. In order to speed up manufacturer design, we have introduced 240W PD3.1 fast charging solutions based on the RT7333, RT7795, RT7220E and RT7209 chips from Liqi Technologies.

    This scheme is equipped with the front PFC boost control, AHB asymmetric half-bridge drive control and SR control strategy, and is equipped with PD3.1 protocol chip supporting 48V output. This means that the solution can be adapted from 100Vac-240Vac full voltage crossover input. Not only that, this solution also supports up to 48V/5A 240W standard power output, which can meet the power needs of the vast majority of notebooks, mobile phones and other devices that support Type-C power supply on the market. In addition, the solution can also support a variety of private fast charge protocols, and built-in a variety of protection mechanisms, can effectively prevent overvoltage, overcurrent, overheating and other potential safety hazards, to ensure charging safety.

    At the technical level, the scheme adopts the advanced AHB asymmetric half-bridge control technology to achieve faster charging speed by reducing power consumption, improving efficiency and reducing heat. At the same time, the solution has a high degree of integration, can significantly reduce the size of the charger, and bring users a more convenient and efficient charging experience.
Core technical advantages:
    The scheme adopts PFC+AHB asymmetric half-bridge architecture.
    Compatible with 3V ~ 55V output;
    Reduce the primary stress;
    Higher efficiency than flyback, lower cost than LLC;
    Supports a variety of mainstream fast charge protocols, especially PD3.1 (48V output) and UFCS;
    Contains various protective mechanisms, especially LPS;
    High integration, low cost.
Project specification:
    90Vac ~ 264Vac input;
    5V/3A, 9V/3A, 15V/3A, 20V/5A, 28V/5A, 48V/5A output;
    DoE VI, Level 6 energy efficiency;
    EMI more than 6dB margin;
    Support PD3.1, QC4.0, UFCS and other fast charging protocols;
    OCP, OVP, OTP, OPP, LPS protection.
