Renesas introduces the new FemtoClock 3 clock solution that combines ultra-low power consumption with superior 25fs-rms jitter performance

Beijing, China, April 18, 2024 - Renesas Electronics (TSE), a global semiconductor solutions provider, 6723) today announced the launch of FemtoClock 3, a new ultra-low 25fs-rms clock solution for wired infrastructure, data centers and industrial applications, expanding its clock solutions portfolio. The new family of 8 - and 12-way differential output ultra-low jitter clock generators and jitter attenuators enables high-performance, easy-to-use, and cost-effective clock tree designs for next-generation high-speed interconnect systems. Target applications for the new products include telecommunications switches and routers, rack-mounted data center switches, medical imaging, broadcast audio and video, and more.
The FemtoClock 3 product features industry-leading ultra-low phase noise and jitter to meet the needs of 112Gbps SerDes rates and the next generation of 224Gbps SerDes designs at passive crystal inputs at 48MHz to 73MHz frequencies. The highly integrated product can have up to four clock domains and offers an integrated LDO (Low voltage differential regulator) with excellent signal-to-noise ratio (PSRR), reducing board complexity and cost.

FemtoClock 3 supports several modes of operation, including synchronization, jitter attenuation, and clock generation. Customers can combine the new FemtoClock 3 solution with Renesas‘ ClockMatrix? Clock solutions such as, VersaClock, clock drivers and active crystal are combined to meet the demanding, high-reliability and complex clock design needs of high-performance wired infrastructure and data centers.
FemtoClock 3 integrates seamlessly with the Renesas IC Toolbox (RICBox) application, enabling users to configure and program components on the evaluation board. In addition, RICBox can be connected to Renesas Lab on the cloud platform, giving users the ability to connect virtually to a real lab environment.
