    The theme of this year‘s competition is "Internet of Things + Digital Economy", using an open competition, students are required to develop small network systems using Renesas Electronics products in IoT-related topics designated by the NUEDC Organizing Committee, and the final award is evaluated by the Organizing committee and a panel of Renesas Electronics specialists.

    Different from the previous three competitions, this competition has a total of two rounds of competition, respectively. The preliminary round focused on "non-graphic image information processing and measurement and control technology", received a total of 221 teams from universities across the country, and at the end of April, 55 teams were selected to enter the final round. The final proposition is more rich and extensive, including: card reader technology, graphics and image processing, real-time online intelligent methods, visual, auditory or olfactory perception methods and other four aspects. In addition to the 55 teams that qualified in the preliminary round, there will also be 51 winners of the previous competition who directly qualified for the final and invited teams, and a total of 106 teams will participate in this year‘s "Renesas Cup" competition. The size of the event is about three times larger than that of 2022.

    For this competition, Renesas Electronics has provided two development kits, namely: RA6M5 and RZ/G2L. Does RA6M5 support TrustZone? The high performance Arm? Cortex? - The M33 core, which can meet the needs of iot applications such as Ethernet, future-proof security features, high-capacity embedded RAM and low power consumption; The RZ/G2L features a dual-core Arm Cortex-A55 (1.2 GHz) CPU and a single-core Arm Cortex-M33 (200 MHz) CPU, a 3D graphics acceleration engine, and a general-purpose microprocessor with a video encoding and decoding engine. It is particularly suitable for applications such as entry-level industrial human machine interfaces (HMI) and embedded devices with video capabilities. In addition to providing a development kit for the competition, Renesas also provides various forms of support such as online training and thematic forums for students to answer questions and communicate.
