Vishay introduces 25 MBd optocoupler with digital input/output interface to simplify design and reduce costs

    MALVERN, PA, USA; Shanghai, China - May 29, 2024 - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH announced the launch of a new 25 MBd high-speed optocoupler, VOIH72A, equipped with a CMOS logic circuit digital input/output interface for easy digital system integration. The single-channel VOIH72A is suitable for a variety of industrial applications, with a maximum pulse width distortion as low as 6 ns, a maximum supply current of only 2 mA, a voltage range of 2.7 V to 5.5 V, and an operating temperature of +110 C.

    The Vishay Semiconductors device, announced today, combines a CNC input LED driver with a high-speed infrared emitter (IRED) and an integrated photodiode IC detector in a small SOIC-8 package. Optocoupled digital inputs and outputs do not require additional driver stages and current limiting resistors, thereby reducing system costs, and direct microcontroller connections effectively help simplify design.

    The VOIH72A has fast switching speed and low pulse width distortion, and is suitable for data communication, pulse width modulation and high voltage protection of automation equipment, motor drivers and power tools. The device has a minimum transient common mode noise suppression (CMTI) of 20 kV/μs. The optocoupler supply current is low, which is the ideal solution to isolate current noise and disconnect the ground loop to reduce power consumption.

    The device is RoHS compliant, pin-compatible with competing solutions and has a wider voltage and operating temperature range, making it particularly suitable for use as an alternative to new and existing designs.

    Samples of VOIH72A are available now and have been mass-produced, with a lead time of 6 weeks for bulk orders.
