Vishay introduces ultra-thin automotive-grade IHDF edge-wound inductors with saturation currents up to 230 A

MALVERN, PA, USA; Shanghai, China - April 24, 2024 - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH announced the launch of a new automotive grade IHDF edge-wound through hole inductor, the IHDF-1300AE-1A, with a rated current of 72A and a saturation current of up to 230A. Vishay Custom Magnetics IHDF-1300AE-1A uses ferrite core technology, is only 15.4 mm thick, can operate in -55 °C to +155 °C harsh temperature conditions, low AC and DC power consumption, has excellent heat dissipation performance.
This device has a direct current internal resistance (DCR) of as low as 1.1mΩ on the side winding, which minimizes losses and helps to improve rated current performance and increase efficiency. The IHDF-1300AE-1A has 75% higher rated current compared to the ferrite solution. The device is packaged in an ultra-thin package that allows designers to meet the stringent mechanical shock and vibration requirements of the AEC-Q200 standard while reducing substrate height and saving space.
The inductors are AEC-Q200 compliant and operate at voltages up to 500 VDC for DC/DC converters, inverters, motors and switching noise suppression, with typical applications including high-current, high-temperature on-board systems such as electric (EV) and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) on-board chargers.
Vishay can customize the IHDF-1300AE-1A fixed orientation, termination type, nominal inductance value and rated isolation voltage upon request. In order to reduce the risk of whisker growth, the inductor adopts hot dip tin plating process. Devices comply with RoHS and Vishay green standards and are halogen-free.
Samples of the new inductors are now available and have been mass-produced with a 12-week lead time.
