2023 Q3 wafer foundry report released, TSMC dominates with 59

    Market research firm Counterpoint Research recently released multiple information graphs summarizing the share of wafer foundry in the third quarter of 2023.

    In the third quarter of 2023, the global wafer foundry industry showed a clear level of market share. TSMC has gained a dominant position with an impressive 59% market share due to the increased production capacity of N3 and the demand for replenishment of smartphones.

    Ranked second is Samsung OEM, accounting for 13% of the market share. Liandian, GlobalFoundries, and SMIC have similar market shares, each accounting for around 6%.

    In the third quarter of 2023, the market was dominated by the 5/4nm segment, with a 23% share. This dominant position stems from strong demand, especially from artificial intelligence and iPhone. The market share of the 7/6nm segment remains stable, indicating early signs of order recovery in the smartphone market.

    On the other hand, the 28/22 nanometer segment is facing challenges due to inventory adjustments for network applications, while the 65/55 nanometer segment is experiencing a decline due to declining demand for automotive applications.
