TDK Corporation (TSE: 6762) has launched the latest MAF1005FR series of small noise suppression filters, measuring only 1.0mm (length) x 0.5mm (width) x 0.5mm (height). This series of stacked chip components aims to improve the audio quality and reduce noise interference of audio cables (sound transmission lines) for smartphones and other devices such as tablets, wearable devices, and portable gaming consoles, and will begin mass production in November 2023.
The audio cables of smartphones and similar devices emit electromagnetic noise, which interferes with the built-in antenna and reduces reception sensitivity. This noise may cause many problems, especially when high-quality audio and effective noise suppression are required. In order to control noise in audio circuits, SMD magnetic beads are usually used. However, although SMD magnetic beads can effectively reduce noise, they can also cause distortion in audio quality, which in turn affects the sound in the audio circuit.
The new MAF1005FR series noise suppression filter has an impedance of up to 2600 Ω in the 900 MHz frequency band and an insertion loss of over 25 dB, effectively improving sound quality and reducing noise interference. This is because the series uses newly developed low distortion ferrite materials to maintain sound quality and solve the problem of sound degradation caused by SMD magnetic beads.
These components support wideband bandpass, extending from the FM frequency band to the cellular frequency band. Unlike traditional products that require two noise suppression filters for each frequency range, only one MAF1005FR component is required, which also simplifies the design and implementation of noise suppression for electronic devices. This series of noise suppression filters has a compact size and supports an operating temperature range from -55 ° C to+125 ° C.
TDK plans to further expand its product lineup by incorporating small-sized components for high-frequency bandpass noise control, and expanding the supported frequency band range to 900 MHz to 5 GHz. In addition, TDK will continue to provide products for applications that require high current support, such as speakers, to meet market demand.
