The device has passed AEC-Q102 certification, and the switching speed and open circuit output voltage (8.5V) have reached the industry‘s advanced level
Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE stock code: VSH) announced the launch of an industry-leading new automotive grade photovoltaic MOSFET driver - VMDA1271, which features a space saving SOP-4 package and integrated shutdown circuit. Vishay Semiconductors VOMDA1271 is specifically designed to improve the performance of automotive applications, while improving design flexibility and reducing costs. Its switch speed and open circuit output voltage both reach industry-leading levels.
The recently released optocoupler integrated shutdown circuit has a typical shutdown time of 0.7ms, reaching an advanced level in SOP-4 small package MOSFET drivers. In addition, the conduction time of VOMDA127 is 0.05ms, which is twice faster than close competitors. As an excellent driver in this packaging specification, its isolation voltage and typical open circuit output voltage reach 3750V and 8.5V respectively, making it suitable for various MOSFET driving applications.
The device has passed AEC-Q102 certification and is suitable for pre charging circuit, wall mounted charger, and Battery management system (BMS) of electric (EV) and hybrid electric (HEV) vehicles. To generate higher voltages driving IGBT and SiC MOSFETs in these applications, two VOMDA1271 optocouplers can be used in series. In addition, with this new driver, designers can replace traditional electromechanical relays with customized Solid-state relay when developing the next generation of cars.
The optically isolated VOMDA1271 adopts AIGaAs infrared LED (IRLED), which absorbs the emitted light by the photovoltaic gate array and generates MOSFET conduction voltage. This structure does not require external power supply, thus simplifying the design and reducing costs. This device can be driven by the GPIO pin of the microcontroller, further improving design flexibility. The new optocoupler meets RoHS and Vishay green standards and is halogen-free.
VOMDA1271 can now provide samples and has achieved mass production, with a supply cycle of 8 weeks.
