High measurement accuracy and excellent weather resistance, suitable for gas meters, water meters, weather monitoring, air conditioning, and household appliances
STMicroelectronics (ST for short; New York Stock Exchange code: STM), a global leading semiconductor company serving multiple electronic applications, launched the first MEMS waterproof/liquid proof absolute pressure sensor in the industrial market, which was included in the 10-year supply assurance plan.
Simone Ferri, general manager of AMS MEMS sub product department of STMicroelectronics, said: "With the development and popularization of Industrial internet of things, enterprises are seeking to collect data in the entire operation process, usually in challenging indoor and outdoor environments. The weather resistance of our latest MEMS waterproof pressure sensor is enough to meet the requirements of various industrial Digital transformation, and provide long-term supply assurance to protect customer design."
The ILPS28QSW sensor newly launched by STMicroelectronics adopts sealed cylindrical surface mount packaging. The packaging uses a ceramic substrate with high liquid permeability resistance and a sturdy automotive potting adhesive to protect the internal circuits. The cover is made of high-grade surgical steel, sealed with an O-ring and secured with epoxy resin adhesive. This unique packaging design ensures waterproofing to IP58 level, impermeability in water exceeding one meter, and has passed IEC 60529 and ISO 20653 certifications. In addition, the sensor can withstand overvoltage of up to 10 bars.
ILPS28QSW can perform absolute pressure measurement with an accuracy of less than 0.5hPa, with two ranges available: 260-1260hPa and 260-4060hPa. The operating temperature range is expanded to -40 ° C to 105 ° C. High accuracy and excellent weather resistance make it suitable for applications such as gas meters, water meters, weather monitors, air conditioning intelligent filters, and household appliances.
ILPS28QSW also has the unique Qvar of STMicroelectronics ® Static charge sensing channel, developers can use this technology to create more value in practical application projects, such as liquid leak detection and other functions. Qvar, combined with pressure signals, can monitor liquid levels and even the smallest leakage phenomena in household appliances and industrial processes.
The working current of ILPS28QSW is as low as 1.7 µ A, which can be used in power sensitive application scenarios. The integrated digital functions on chip can simplify system design management. The sensor is equipped with temperature compensation, FIFO memory, and I2C/MIPI-I3C digital communication interface, and the output data rate can be selected in the range of 1Hz to 200Hz.
ILPS28QSW has now been put into production. Product details can be found at www.st.com industrial pressure sensor
