State Council: continue the policy of exemption from new energy vehicle purchase tax

    According to the data of the passenger car association a few days ago, the overall market discount rate of passenger cars in mid July was about 13.7%, and the overall price remained stable compared with last month (13.7%).

    On July 19, the Ministry of industry and information technology said at the press conference that everyone was generally concerned about the exemption of purchase tax, and the State Council attached great importance to it. The executive meeting asked relevant departments to carefully study the extension of the exemption of new energy vehicle purchase tax in combination with the actual situation. At present, relevant departments of the Ministry of industry and information technology are stepping up research and issuing relevant results as soon as possible.

    In addition, on July 7, the Ministry of Commerce and other 17 departments issued the notice on several measures to invigorate automobile circulation and expand automobile consumption. The notice shows that the relevant departments support the consumption of new energy vehicles and are studying the extension of the exemption from the purchase tax of new energy vehicles after the expiration of the policy.

    In April last year, the Ministry of Finance and other three ministries and commissions officially issued a policy announcement on the exemption of purchase tax on new energy vehicles. From January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2022, the purchase of new energy vehicles will be exempted from vehicle purchase tax. New energy vehicles exempted from vehicle purchase tax refer to pure electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (including incremental programs) and fuel cell vehicles.
