According to industry sources, MediaTek is considering raising the price of its 3G and 4G mobile chips in order to mitigate the impact of lower than expected 5g chip sales on its performance this year.
According to Taiwan media "electronic times", the source said that MediaTek‘s Android smartphone customer orders fell, and it may not be able to achieve the year-on-year revenue growth target of 20% in 2022.
Earlier, it was reported that leading smartphone manufacturers in Chinese Mainland, such as Xiaomi, oppo and vivo, had told suppliers that orders in the next few quarters would be reduced by about 20% compared with previous plans.
According to people familiar with the matter, Xiaomi has told its suppliers that it will reduce its annual forecast from 200million units to about 160million to 180million units. Vivo and oppo also reduced orders by about 20% in the second and third quarters to try to absorb the excessive inventory currently flooding the retail channel.
