On April 29, Gartner, a market research institution, recently announced that it would increase the revenue scale of the global semiconductor industry, with a growth rate of 5.79 percentage points to 13.6% and an output value of US $676 billion.
Gartner believes that the continuous rise in the average selling price caused by the shortage of chips is the key driving force for the improvement of semiconductor output value this year. With the gradual improvement of semiconductor supply chain environment, the price will tend to be stable.
The memory market will remain the largest segment in the forecast period and is expected to account for 31.4% of the entire semiconductor market in 2022. Memory is still in short supply, with both volume and price rising. DRAM revenue is expected to increase by 22.8% and NAND flash revenue is expected to increase by 38.1%.
The semiconductor revenue of smart phones is expected to increase by 15.2% in 2022, and the output of 5g smart phones will increase by 45.3% to 808 million, accounting for 55% of the output of all smart phones. The increase of 5g baseband IC inventory will lead to the decline of 5g smartphone price and further accelerate the penetration of 5g in the forecast period.
