On May 21, 2024, the world‘s leading semiconductor component distributor in the Asia-Pacific region, Daunda Holdings, announced that its Yousun unit launched a 4K 60-frame high-definition image detection solution based on onsemi‘s AR2020 image sensor and NOVATEK‘s Natek platform.

With the wave of Industry 4.0 sweeping the world, smart factories have become an important symbol of manufacturing transformation and upgrading. In this intelligent revolution, high-performance cameras play a pivotal role. Whether it is the precise positioning of automated assembly lines, the identification of subtle defects in quality inspection, or the tracking of product flow in logistics management, high frame rate, high definition image detection is the key to ensure the efficient operation of industrial automation equipment. In response to this trend, the company has launched a 4K 60-frame high-definition image detection solution based on the onsemi AR2020 image sensor and NOVATEK Natek platform.

The AR2020 is a 1/1.8-inch backlit (BSI) overlay CMOS digital image sensor from On with a 5120×3840 active pixel array. This advanced sensor captures images in linear or enhanced dynamic range (eDR) mode and is read out with a rolling shutter. The architecture of the AR2020 is designed to deliver high quality performance with very low power consumption. It is powered by onsemi‘s 1.4μm BSI pixels for excellent performance at low light and near infrared wavelengths. In addition, the AR2020 has powerful data capture capabilities at the edge, can be programmed with multiple options, and provides optimal bandwidth with extremely low power consumption.

The Natek platform, coupled with the AR2020 design, enables the solution to output full resolution images of up to 20 megapixels via the USB 3.0 interface. At the same time, it also supports HDMI output, which can provide 4KP60 high-definition picture. In addition, the platform can also provide gigabit network port or WiFi video streaming on request, suitable for industrial microscopy and outdoor photography product applications requiring high pixel and frame rate.
