Recently, there are reports that Samsung plans to renegotiate the price of NAND flash memory with major mobile, PC and server customers between this month and next month, aiming to increase the price by 15-20%.
After more than a year of oversupply, Samsung‘s NAND flash memory prices once equalized costs, so it plans to negotiate with large customers to bring prices back to a reasonable level.
Research institute TrendForce data show that in the fourth quarter of 2023, the global NAND Flash industry revenue reached $11.49 billion, a quarterly increase of 24.5%. This growth was mainly due to the recovery of end-use demand due to year-end promotions, as well as the expansion of orders in the parts market, memory chip shipments increased year-on-year. Among them, Samsung still maintains a leading position, with Q4 NAND revenue of $4.2 billion in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 44.8%, which is also the highest increase among manufacturers. The average unit price of Samsung‘s NAND products rose 12% month-on-month.
Recently, the general manager of Huirong also said that the memory recovery that began in the second half of 2023 will continue in 2024, and even continue until the first half of 2025. At present, the price of NAND Flash in the second quarter has been negotiated, and it is expected to increase by 20%.
