Toshiba introduces a new clock extension peripheral interface driver and receiver IC, which helps reduce the amount of wiring harnesses in automotive electronic systems

Time:2023-09-15 Views:695
Toshiba Electronic Components and Storage Devices Co., Ltd. ("Toshiba") today announced the launch of an interface driver/receiver IC - "TB9032FNG", which is a car driver/receiver IC used for the physical layer interface defined in the Clock Extended Peripheral Interface (CXPI) [1] car communication protocol standard. The sample application for this product will begin this month.
The trend of electrification in automobiles is driving the increase in the number of electronic components in on-board systems, which not only increases the complexity of components, but also increases the weight of vehicles as manufacturers adopt more wiring harnesses in their designs. The solution to this problem lies in transforming the current system, where the Human Machine Interface (HMI) [2] connects switches and sensors in a one-to-one manner, reducing the amount of wiring harness through multi-channel transmission of in-car communication.
HMI typically integrates Area Network (CAN) [3] and Local Interconnect Network (LIN) [4], with the former having higher costs and the latter having poor responsiveness. CXPI is a set of in car communication protocols developed in Japan, which has been adopted by international standards. CXPI includes in car subnetworks with lower cost than CAN and faster response speed than LIN.
The TB9032FNG combines Motor Control Device (MCD) and CXPI communication, and provides network interfaces for on-board applications or interfaces for Area Electronic Control Units (ECU) [5]. It can support functions such as controlling door locks and rearview mirror control.
The new product can switch modes between command nodes and response nodes through external terminals. In addition, it has 5 μ The current consumption (sleep) of A (typical value) (IBAT_SLP) [6], and the standby mode consumes low current. In addition, it is also equipped with fault detection functions, including overheating detection and low voltage detection, and is packaged in P-SOP8-0405-1.27-002.
The operating temperature range of this product is -40 ℃ to 125 ℃, and the design meets the AEC-Q100 (Level 1) automotive electronic component validation standard.
Toshiba plans to develop an interface IC using its leading CXPI physical layer technology assets, which will integrate CXPI controllers and protocol control hardware.
Application:
    On board equipment
-Body control system applications (steering wheel switches, dashboard switches, light switches, door locks, door mirrors, etc.)
    -Regional ECU
Characteristics:
-Physical layer interface compliant with CXPI (Vehicle Communication Protocol Standard)
-High speed response suitable for automotive body system applications (compared to LIN [3])
-Switching between command nodes and response nodes can be achieved through external terminals
    -Built in sleep mode
-Low current consumption (sleep): IBAT_ SLP=5 μ A (typical value)
-Various fault detection functions: overheat detection, low voltage detection, and explicit timeout
    -P-SOP8-0405-1.27-002 Packaging
-AEC-Q100 (Level 1) certification in progress
