    Recently, at EEVIA‘s 10th Annual China Hard Technology Media Forum and 2022 Industry Chain Research and Innovation Trend Outlook Seminar, He Yuan, senior market application manager of ADI China Product Business Unit, shared some understanding and thinking of ADI in the wearable field with the theme of "Greeting the new generation of wearable technology trends from the perspective of data accuracy and algorithm effectiveness".
 
    He Yuan said that from the current market trend, wearable earphones are very similar to the mobile phone market ten years ago, and the brand market occupies the main force. In the past two quarters, the main market forces of the four major consumer regions of wearable earphones: China, India, Europe and the United States are moving to Asia and East Asia, and the European and American markets are relatively saturated.
    
    The VR equipment market is in the ascendant. Before 2020, the VR market will be very flat without any big waves. In the next five years, the VR market will have a compound annual growth rate of more than 40%. At present, the medium and high-end market of VR is far from mature. It is not as cool as the "Number One Player" in the film, and many problems have not been solved. Low end products within 3000 yuan are the main force in the market. The main application scenarios are games, entertainment, social networking and the meta universe.
    AR devices are not used in entertainment, but are mainly used in the industry, which is still in the initial stage. For example, industrial training, industrial maintenance, and remote guidance of on-site workers can do many operations through AR equipment.
    The development of AR/VR devices requires high computing power and power consumption. The main chip process is 5nm or less. At present, AR/VR manufacturers are mainly concentrated in China and the United States, as well as Samsung in South Korea and Sony in Japan.
    The smart watch industry has kept rising steadily in the consumer market in recent years. From 2020 to 2022, the total shipment volume will show double-digit growth, and the proportion of brands will also increase. China‘s smart watch market share accounted for 28%, ranking first. Europe and the United States are declining, while India is rising. It can be seen that Chinese people pay high attention to smart watches, including health.
    Bezos once said that many people focus on what will change in the next ten years, and they pursue what will change, but he asks himself more about what will not change in the next ten years. From the perspective of wearable products, the pursuit of human health is unchanged. In addition to exercise tracking, current watches can measure heart rate, blood oxygen saturation rate, and even primary emotions, stress, health status, and body fat rate. Including five major health indicators of human beings: heart rate, blood oxygen, blood pressure, respiration and body temperature, which will be overcome by wearable products in the future.
    The ECG detection environment in hospitals is ideal, and the requirements for electronic devices in the field of wearable products are higher than those in hospitals. For example, whether the watch is securely worn, and whether there is a lot of electromagnetic interference in the surrounding environment, these are adverse to wearable devices. Since its establishment in 1965, ADI has been focusing on mixed signal processing and other technologies. It has a deep accumulation in data conversion and analog/digital signal processing, which enables ADI chips and solutions to solve these problems at the system level to the greatest extent.
    The sensor of ADI is divided into two parts: one is the optical path. Through the changes of blood vessel contraction and expansion, the reflected light acquisition information can be judged, which can be used to collect heart rate information. This part is extremely difficult because everyone is different in weight, tightness and skin color. Factors such as body hair, tattoos and scars can affect the collection accuracy. ADI has been deeply engaged in the field of simulation for nearly 60 years, and can provide extremely high signal-to-noise ratio to ensure signal quality and measurable coverage. In different situations, such as light leakage, ambient light interference, and dynamic light artifacts, ADI can also provide a complete set of solutions for dynamic interference suppression, which can adapt to more environments and test states. In addition, ADI also provides stable algorithms, adaptive algorithms, and applied machine learning theory.
    The electrode part also faces many challenges. For example, in cold winter, the skin is dry, and the skin of older users is loose. In these cases, no results can be measured. ADI can provide reliable, stable and mature professional architecture technology and unique patented technology, which can ensure the measurement accuracy of impedance, adapt to more application scenarios, and is almost immune to complex external variables. It is suitable for ECG measurement and body fat measurement.
    In an ideal laboratory, the impedance data control will perform well, but these are not worth reference at all, because they do not represent the real situation. In fact, after getting started, everyone‘s contact status is different, and the error caused by the user‘s operation will be large, and will probably occur.
