According to the news on September 8, today, ofI optics announced that it had released a variable aperture camera module a few days ago. By adding a variable aperture motor at the front end of lens, the different apertures of a single lens can be adjusted from f1.4 → f2.0 → f2.8 → f4.0, so that the module can physically adjust the aperture from the hardware, and is no longer limited to changing the aperture through software algorithms.
OfI said that the so-called camera aperture refers to the size of the aperture that allows light to enter the sensor. When the shutter is not changed, the larger the aperture, the more light will enter, and the brighter the picture will be; The smaller the aperture, the darker the picture.
According to the introduction, the Oufei optics variable aperture camera module uses large-size photosensitive components, matches the large aperture lens of f1.4, and adds a variable aperture motor on the outer surface of lens. Through the variable aperture motor, it drives the opening and closing of six blades, so that the module realizes the multi-step adjustment of the aperture from f1.4 (4.0mm) → f2.0 (2.9mm) → f2.8 (2.05mm) → f4.0 (1.44mm), and the switching between various apertures can be quickly realized within 20ms. In addition, the module performs closed-loop control of the full stroke of f1.4 → f4.0 aperture, and can switch any aperture of a single module through software optimization.
It home learned that, according to the introduction of variable aperture technology, the variable aperture camera module of ofI can automatically switch the aperture size and control the amount of light entering, so that the mobile phone can use only a single camera module without the assistance of other lenses, accurately match bright and dark light scenes under complex light conditions, and easily switch between the background blurring of large aperture and the sharp depth of field of small aperture.
In places with strong light, you can bring a clearer picture by reducing the aperture; When shooting in low light or at night, you can get more exposure by increasing the aperture to reduce noise in the picture. That is, using different aperture sizes in different light and dark scenes can take better looking photos. In addition, it can also be easily switched between large and small apertures according to the different subjects. Large aperture can blur the background, highlight people more, and also cause shallow depth of field. When shooting landscape photos, small aperture may be a better choice.
